Company-history

NWR KARBONIA Sp. z o.o. has been established in the year 1999 under the name of KARBONIA PL Sp. z o.o. Main activities within the company are focused on:

• Exploration of underground coal and CBM resources
• Mining and selling of minerals,
• Methane production and sales,
• Development and engineering

The company has customers on Polish and Czech site of the border. The brief history of company follows:

2000:

• purchases, modernization and sales of processing plant equipment ,
• purchase of 110/6 kV Pogwizdów substation,
• obtained concession for exploration and extraction of methane from the coal bearing strata

2001:

• obtained license for distribution and sales of electrical energy ,
• drilled ‘Kaczyce 1/01’ exploratory/production borehole to the old workings in ‘Morcinek’ mine,
• purchase of a 6kV low-voltage distribution network,

2002:

• started supply of electricity to the buyers connected to 110/6 kV Pogwizdów
• energy transit between GZE SA and BE SA
• purchase of land and buildings on the former Morcinek site,
• modernization of the 110 kV Pogwizdów substation and construction of 110kV power line to the state border

2003:

• geological documentation of methane deposit “Kaczyce I ” has been approved by the Ministry of Environment ,
• setting up tele-transmission systems to PSE SA requirements,
• commenced sales of electrical energy to Darkov coal mine ,
• increased power supply rating from 33 MW to 66MW for the 110 kV Pogwizdów substation ,
• construction of a gas pipeline between the ‘Kaczyce 1/01’ borehole and the state border ,
• license No. 13/2003/p dated October 30th, 2003 for coal exploration in ‘Morcinek 1’ mining district was obtained.

2004:

• EU intra-community supply of electrical energy to a Czech buyer ,
• supply of electrical energy to domestic buyers connected to ‘NWR KARBONIA Sp. z o.o.’ distribution network ,
• electrical energy trade as a Member of Balancing Market and a Member of Network Interchange System,
• construction of a 225 mm diameter, 2480 m long gas pipeline from ‘Kaczyce 1/01’ borehole to the state border,
• sales of methane from the ‘Kaczyce 1/01’ borehole to a Czech buyer,
• modernization of SE Pogwizdów substation – 3rd stage.

2005:

• EU intra-community supply of electrical energy at 110 kV to a Czech buyer ,
• supply of electrical energy to domestic buyers connected to NWR KARBONIA Sp. z o.o. power distribution network ,
• electrical energy trade as a Member of Balancing Market and a Member of Network Interchange System ,
• supply of methane from ‘Kaczyce 1/01’ borehole to a Czech buyer ,
• supply of methane from ‘Kaczyce 1/01’ borehole to domestic buyers ;
• modernization of SE Pogwizdów substation – 4th stage.

2006:

• EU intra-community supply of electrical energy at 110 kV to a Czech buyer,
• supply of electrical energy to domestic buyers connected to NWR KARBONIA Sp. z o.o. power distribution network ,
• electrical energy trade as a Member of Balancing Market and a Member of Network Interchange System ,
• supply of methane from the ‘Kaczyce 1/01’ borehole to a Czech buyer ,
• supply of methane from the ‘Kaczyce 1/01’ borehole to domestic buyers ,
• modernization of SE Pogwizdów substation – 5th stage;

2007:

• drilling of ‘Kaczyce 2/07’ exploration borehole to the depth of 1000 m, prepared geological documentation of ‘Dębieńsko 1’ coal deposit in A, B, C1 and C2 exploration category – approved by Ministry of Environment on August 31st, 2007 ,
• supply of methane to a Czech buyer,
• supply of electrical energy at 110 kV to a Czech buyer,
• electrical energy trade as a Member of Balancing Market and a Member Network Interchange System .

2008:

• obtained license No. nr 8/2008 dated June 24th, 2008 to mine coal and methane as the accompanying mineral from ‘Dębieńsko 1’ deposit area of 31,7 sq km,
• prepared geological documentation of ‘Dębieńsko 2’ coal deposit in A, B, C1 and C2 exploration category – approved by the Ministry of Environment on November 7th, 2008,
• obtained license No. nr 57/2008/p dated November 20th, 2008 for exploration of coal, coal bed methane and natural gas deposits in ‘Zebrzydowice 1’ mining district,
• supply of methane to the Czech buyer – OKD, DPB, a. s ,
• supply of electrical energy domestic buyers supply,
• Setting-up NWR KARBONIA Sp. z o.o. Energy Service Company as a independent entity
• opening of company office in Czerwionka-Leszczyny.

2009:

• opening of company office in Katowice,
• division of Karbonia PL Sp.z o.o. into two companies:
• NWR Karbonia Sp. Z o.o.
• NWR Energetyka Sp. Z o.o.
